Mother and newborn in warm postpartum setting

Village Her Perinatal presents

Village Her
Organica

Honoring la cuarentena. Rooted in Taino and Afrolatina tradition. A sacred 40-day postpartum experience for the whole family.

The Tradition

¿Qué es
la cuarentena?

La cuarentena is a Latin American postpartum tradition spanning 40 days after birth. The word comes from cuarenta — forty. It is a period of intentional rest, deep nourishment, and community care for the new mother.

In this tradition, the mother does not cook, clean, or care for herself alone. Family and community gather around her. She rests. She heals. She bonds with her baby. She is held.

Village Her Organica brings this tradition into modern homes — honoring its roots in Taino and Afrolatina culture while making it accessible to every family who wants to be held this way.

The Foundation

The Six Pillars of
La Cuarentena

Descanso

Rest

The body has done sacred work. La cuarentena begins with rest — deep, protected, unhurried rest. We hold space for you to stop, to be still, and to let your body begin its healing.

Nutrición

Nourishment

Warm broths, atole, herbal teas, and traditional foods prepared with intention. We guide families in the foods that restore warmth, rebuild blood, and support milk production.

Comunidad

Community

No mother should cook, clean, or care for herself alone in the 40 days after birth. We help rebuild the village around you — so you can focus entirely on healing and bonding.

Plantas y Limpias

Herbs & Spiritual Cleansing

Rooted in Taino and Afrolatina tradition, we incorporate plant medicine, herbal baths, and limpias — spiritual cleansings that clear stagnant energy and restore balance to the new mother.

La Faja y el Rebozo

Binding & Wrapping

Traditional abdominal binding with a faja supports the womb as it contracts and heals. Rebozo techniques are used for comfort, baby carrying, and physical support throughout recovery.

Cierre de Caderas

Closing of the Bones

A sacred postpartum ceremony that uses warmth, rebozo, and intention to close the body after birth — honoring the passage from maiden to mother and sealing the energy of the birth experience.

Our Roots

Taino. Black. Boricua. Rooted in love.

Village Her Organica was born from Afrika's own heritage as a queer, Black Boricueña of Taino descent. These practices are not borrowed — they are ancestral. They are the ways our grandmothers cared for new mothers long before hospitals, long before postpartum depression had a name, long before the village was scattered.

We offer these traditions with reverence, with cultural humility, and with deep love for every family who chooses to be held this way.
